In May 2021, The Coca‑Cola Company Middle East, along with a coalition of other international companies based in the UAE, partnered with Veolia to support with the launch of its collection app Recapp in Abu Dhabi.
The mobile application, which is the first to enable free collection of recyclable bottles and cans in the UAE, offers users a digital door-to-door service that rewards responsible behavior.
As part of The Coca‑Cola Company’s ongoing commitment to waste management, the Middle East office partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE)-endorsed initiative to raise awareness on recycling in the capital.
“By aligning The Coca‑Cola Company’s own World Without Waste initiative with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment’s goals, we have been able to drive awareness for a more sustainable environment in Abu Dhabi and the UAE,” said Tolga Cebe, Vice-President and General Manager, Coca‑Cola Middle East.
Since launching in March, and by partnering with companies such as The Coca‑Cola Company, the initiative has effectively collected over 70 tonnes of recyclables an increased its userbase to more than 8,500 users.
“Our support to launch of the application has helped ensure widespread visibility of the app and participation in communities across Abu Dhabi,” added Cebe.
