FAQS for Employee Connected Grants 2023

1. How much money can a charity apply for?

A charity can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $25,000. You should note however that only a limited number of grants will be given for the maximum amount. Charities are asked to consider this when determining how much to apply for and the amount reasonably required for their objectives.

2. What is meant by “deeper connection” with the employee?

The CCAF would like to support employees who are deeply connected to their chosen charity. This connection can be in a myriad of ways such as volunteering, fundraising, Board position etc. This is not limited. The Board looks forward to hearing of the ways you are connected to your charity.

3. What can the grant money be used for?

The grant money can be used for a program or more generally for capacity building such as:

  • Equipment purchase
  • Funding of a part-time resource
  • Training

Any use which helps the charity to achieve positive community impact and is aligned to the CCAF mission will be considered.

4. What are the Employee Connected grant round dates for 2023

The Employee Connected grant round dates for 2022 are:

Online applications open at 10am (AEDT)- Thursday 16 February

Online applications close at 5pm (AEDT)- Thursday 9 March

5. Charities applying for a grant from the CCAF must have Deductible Gift Recipient (item 1) status. What is DGR Item 1 status and how do I/the charity know if they’re eligible?

A deductible gift recipient (DGR) is an entity or fund that can receive tax deductible gifts. Only charities who have DGR1 status will be eligible to apply for grants from the CCAF. There are a number of different categories of DGR status and not all charitable organisations have DGR item 1 status. If your charity has DGR2 or any other category it is not eligible. To find out more about DGR Item 1 status and to check if a charity has this status click here and enter their Australian Business Number (ABN). Most charities have their ABN on their websites.

6. Is my charity eligible to apply if it is auspiced/applies under the auspices of a DGR1 charity?

No. The CCAF only accepts applications from charities with DGR1 status. Please do not apply under the auspice of another charity as the application will not be eligible.

7. If a charity is successful will the charity get the exact amount applied for?

The grant amount will be determined by the CCAF Board. This decision will be based on the information provided in the application. As funds are limited, we recommend that you provide a detailed breakdown of proposed expenditure in a way that would enable the Board to consider a partial grant.

8. Who fills out the application form?

The applying charity fills in the relevant sections of the application form. A Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners Australia or Coca‑Cola South Pacific employee also fills in a form (which is downloaded from the online application form) and returns it to the charity. The charity then submits both. Both sections must be completed for the application to be valid.

9. Does the Coca‑Cola Australia Foundation have guidelines around how I can communicate about my grant if successful?

Yes. If successful, charities will be provided with a communications guidebook, which also includes guidance in line with Coca‑Cola’s global responsible marketing policy. This policy includes a commitment to not market any of our products, regardless of nutritional profile, to children under the age of 15 in Australia. We ask all grant recipients to be aware of this policy and organisations with a majority of beneficiaries under the age of 15 must adhere to the guidance set out in the communications guidebook.

10. Is there a limit on how many times a charity can apply with different employees?

This is not restricted, however while multiple applications from employees and/or charities will be considered on merit, all things being equal the intention of the CCAF Board is to support as many employees and charities as possible with its limited funds.

11. If a charity has received any sort of grant from the CCAF previously are they eligible to reapply?

Yes, past Employee Connected grant partners are eligible to reapply. Their application will be considered on its merits, however the CCAF advises that all things being equal, the preference is to allocate new partners. Past partners (in 2021 and 2022) will need to upload an acquittal report into their application.
